Nigel Reo-Coker reacts to controversial decision in Southampton v West Ham United
West Ham managed a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday (16 October) in the Premier League.
David Moyes was furious with the validity of Southampton’s goal as Jarrod Bowen was clearly obstructed by the referee in the build-up from which Romain Perraud scored.
Nigel Reo-Coker has suggested that it’s a “tough one” but he understands Moyes’s frustration.

“You can understand that the referee is obstructing it, but he didn’t hit the referee,” said Reo-Coker on BBC Football Daily Podcast.
“The referee was there trying to get a good view of the game and Bowen has come in from another side. It’s a tough one. I understand Moyes’s frustration to a certain bit but there’s not really much you can do.”
Frustrating
It was a frustrating result for the Hammers and Moyes has every right to feel bad.
The Hammers also felt Tomas Soucek should have been given a penalty after Perraud’s dangerous move inside the box.
For the first goal, Moyes described it as “ridiculous” that the goal was allowed to stand. The official accidentally impeded Bowen, and it should not have stood.

Moyes was furious after the game and felt they were cruelly denied all three points. The Hammers did create a lot of chances in the first half, with Gianluca Scamacca twice coming close to scoring.
Declan Rice finally got the equaliser with a magnificent finish, while substitute Said Benrahma made a huge impact after coming on.
The Hammers were looking for three wins in a row, and they should have taken maximum points against the Saints who are struggling badly at the moment.
West Ham managed 61% of possession and had 25 shots during the game, but they won’t be happy with a point.
