Niclas Fullkrug set for West Ham return after injury update from Rush Green
West Ham United have been without Niclas Fullkrug through injury since early January, but that wait could soon be over.
Fullkrug has been plagued with issues since signing for West Ham from Borussia Dortmund last summer, being restricted to just 11 appearances in total including a mere three Premier League starts.
Both the sacked Julen Lopetegui and his successor Graham Potter have therefore been unable to call upon West Ham’s £27million summer signing for the vast majority of this season, to their detriments.
With two goals in his three starts, there have been some green shoots to cling to, but Fullkrug’s latest hamstring issue, picked up 16 minutes into Potter’s first match, sums up his spell in East London so far.

West Ham return on the cards for Niclas Fullkrug
Of the 32 matches in all competitions West Ham have played this season, Fullkrug has missed 21 of them; almost a third and doing very little to justify their £27m outlay to Dortmund just last summer.
Player | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists | Games Missed |
Niclas Fullkrug | 11 | 4 | 2 | 1 | 20 |
However, Fullkrug could be set to return for the Irons’ final nine games this term, with Roshane Thomas reporting for The Athletic on 20 March that the German could be back to face Wolves on 1 April.
West Ham return to action after the international break with a trip to Molineux, and having returned to full training at Rush Green, Fullkrug will be in contention to feature for the first time in over three months.

Niclas Fullkrug can forge West Ham revival v Wolves
While most football fans tend to feel they’re owed good performances, given they pay a lot to watch ultra-wealthy players representing their clubs, that’s certainly the case for Fullkrug this season.
West Ham baulked at spending £40m for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran in favour of signing the 32-year-old at a price they viewed as a bargain in comparison, and it’s safe to say that hasn’t proven to be true.
A £27m outlay for a striker into his thirties who has only scored more than 15 top-flight league goals once in his career was a bizarre strategy, but Fullkrug hasn’t run out of time in East London just yet.
A scoring return against Wolves would be a perfect way to re-emerge under Potter in claret and blue, and if Fullkrug can find the net regularly before season’s end, he could well win the fans over.
