Niclas Fullkrug plan emerges at West Ham United after new injury update
Niclas Fullkrug will be slowly introduced back into the West Ham United first team after his injury, according to SportBILD.
The German outlet reported on Friday (11 October) that after consultation with Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui, the Irons plan to reintegrate the forward back into the side after the October international break.
Lopetegui and the Irons want the German international to be a leader in their side and hope that he will be able to avoid further injury to play a part after the international break comes to an end.
The Hammers travel across London to face Tottenham on Saturday (19 October) and reports suggest that the Irons expect Fullkrug to be on, or close to the substitutes bench for that clash [Sean Whetstone, 9 October].
What has happened to Niclas Fullkrug at West Ham and the London Stadium?
It has been a far from ideal-start to life in claret and blue for Fullkrug, but the Hammers seem to be doing everything in their power to ensure that the German international can hit the ground running when he finally returns from injury.
While Michail Antonio and Danny Ings have had some impressive moments in his absence, the former Borussia Dortmund man was signed to solve West Ham’s striker problem because of his impressive domestic and international record.
That may not have worked out for now, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t in the long run. The important thing is that once Fullkrug comes back from injury and gets up to speed, West Ham need to find a way to keep him fit and firing.

Hopefully, this new plan will do exactly that. If the striker is slowly introduced for longer and longer periods of time, he should be able to begin to find his feet in the Premier League while also reducing his risk of injury.
Whether or not that is immediately after the October international break remains to be seen, but the right foundations have been put in place by Lopetegui and his coaching staff.
