Niclas Fullkrug jets out of UK as West Ham United injury twist emerges

Niclas Fullkrug has returned to Germany for injections to speed up his recovery process for West Ham United, according to The Sun.

On page 46 of their publication on 23 October, it was reported that the striker has headed back to his homeland for the treatment on his Achilles.

Mohammed Kudus’ red card against Tottenham on Saturday 19 October will mean a considerable ban for the Ghanaian, putting further pressure on Lopetegui’s attacking options.

Niclas Fullkrug needed for West Ham United

West Ham fans were sincerely hoping Fullkrug would be able to hit the ground running at the London Stadium, but it has so far been anything but.

Injury has plagued the start of his new chapter in England, along with Lopetegui’s early preference for Michail Antonio up top.

The 31-year-old has played just 63 minutes this term and is yet to score, after signing in an exciting £27m deal in the recent transfer window.

The Hammers’ attack is ageing and Tim Steidten is mindful of what Lopetegui is having to work with despite the summer spree.

High hopes remain for Fullkrug, who has shown himself in recent years of his career to be a late bloomer and an unorthodox developer up top – the consensus is that he can deliver well into his mid-30s.
