Niclas Fullkrug jets away from West Ham United for shock secret gathering

Niclas Fullkrug has endured a disastrous start to life at West Ham United.

Signed by Tim Steidten for big money from Borussia Dortmund, the German international has been hit by several injuries at the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old has only started three Premier League games, scoring twice in just 368 minutes of action for Julen Lopetegui, and is yet to feature for Graham Potter.

Fullkrug in surprise West Ham developments

Despite that, Fullkrug jetted out of the United Kingdom on Tuesday to meet up with the Germany squad ahead of their international fixtures.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the striker made a “surprise” visit for a secret gathering of the squad, and will attend a training session on Wednesday before returning.

Fullkrug is said to be ready to return to action at West Ham after the break, and remains in the plans of Julian Nagelsmann.

West Ham crying out for new striker

It is no surprise that all of the headlines dominating the London Stadium right now are to do with a new striker coming in, yet again.

After years of over-relying on Michail Antonio to produce the goods, there were positive signs when David Sullivan finally opened the chequebook on Fullkrug.

There were doubts over his age, though, and they have come to life already.

With the likes of Jonathan David and Moise Kean already linked with summer moves to East London, it is clear that area is being targeted once again by Potter.

Evan Ferguson is yet to be fully unleashed since his loan move from Brighton, with no real sign of him sticking around past the end of the season.

Potter has a big summer rebuild ahead, once again.
