Niclas Fullkrug injury update at West Ham United after international developments

West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug has been spotted leaving Germany’s training session after just 15 minutes, according to Kerry Hau.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via X on Monday (9 September) that it is very unlikely that the forward will feature for his national side in their clash with the Netherlands on Tuesday (10 September).

Fullkrug was forced to abandon the session because of problems with his Achilles and calf having played 60 minutes and even found the net from close range in Germany’s 5-0 thrashing of Hungary.

Julen Lopetegui’s side return to Premier League action on Saturday (14 September) when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage and it is not clear whether or not the 31-year-old will be fit to feature.

Will Niclas Fullkrug play for West Ham and Julen Lopetegui after injury blow?

West Ham supporters will be hoping that Fullkrug’s removal from training was just a matter of precaution as it would be a major blow to Lopetegui if he is without his new number nine for an extended period of time.

The German international is yet to really get his career up and running in claret and blue having had to settle for appearances from the bench so far in the Premier League, but there was a feeling that he could kick on after the international break.

For years now, supporters have been crying out for the Irons to sign a new number nine to finally end their reliance on Michail Antonio and now that they have, their new striker appears to have picked up an injury.

Hopefully, a clearer update about the 31-year-old’s condition will emerge sooner rather than later so the Hammers will get an idea of whether or not he will be fit to feature in any capacity against Fulham at the weekend.

It should be a good sign that the striker was able to walk off the training field unaided, but it will of course be a worry over the coming days.
