Niclas Fullkrug can now help West Ham seal transfer for ‘dangerous’ star
Niclas Fullkrug has started the new Premier League campaign slowly.
In fairness, the entirety of the West Ham squad has been sub-par so far, with Graham Potter’s side conceding an astonishing eleven goals in their first three games of the season.
One of the main reasons for this is the performance of West Ham’s new shot-stopper, with Mads Hermansen having an awful game against Chelsea in particular.
Fullkrug looked to have opened his account in the Premier League campaign last week; however, Fullkrug’s goal against Chelsea was ruled as offside by VAR.
Now, though, the German could be about to help the Hammers secure a new signing.
Niclas Fullkrug to help West Ham secure Patrick Wimmer
It is not just players the Hammers have been linked to as of late, with Jose Mourinho linked with the West Ham job following his recent sacking from Fenerbache.
Regardless of who is in charge in East London, Wimmer would be a useful addition to the squad to help drag West Ham out of the rut they are currently in.
Wimmer, 24, currently plays for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and reports from Bild on 28 August suggest West Ham are keen to bring the winger to the London Stadium.
- The winger has four full seasons of Bundesliga experience
- Last campaign, Wimmer scored three goals and recorded four assists
- Wimmer put up solid stats in the Bundesliga to say he only managed to play 62 minutes per game on average
- Wolfsburg coach Ralph Hasenhüttl hailed his “dangerous” pace at counter-attacks earlier this year
Potter is said to be a big fan of the Austrian, but a deal will be hard to get done as Wimmer does not have a release clause, and his current deal runs with Wolfsburg until 2027.
The winger is said to welcome a move to England would not be averse to teaming up with Fullkrug in claret and blue.
West Ham could be in line to secure next Dejan Kulusevski
According to FBRef, one of the players most similar to Wimmer is Tottenham’s Kulusevski.
Last season, Kulusevski and Wimmer had very similar expected goals data, despite Wimmer playing fewer matches.

Data suggests that Wimmer can become a far greater goal threat than Kulusevski if he can continue his development, and West Ham fans will be hoping Wimmer thinks the East London outfit will be able to aid his development.
