Newcastle v West Ham preview: Team news, where to watch, lineups and prediction

Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham side travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on Monday in a game that could be the Spaniard’s last in charge.

Lopetegui has been under even more pressure in the past few days with it revealed that the club had conducted internal checks on potential replacements.

The Irons have had a dismal season so far, having won just three of their first 11 games.

Preview

The tale of the two clubs has been very different in the past 12 months. The Hammers having qualified for Europe two seasons ago have regressed under Lopetegui while Newcastle continue to impress under Eddie Howe.

Lopetegui’s side sit 14th in the table, just five points above the relegation zone while Newcastle are just one point from a Champions League spot.

The encounter on 25 November will be a tough one for the Irons, but a crucial one for Lopetegui who could lose his job if they fail to avoid defeat at the very least.

Several names have already been mentioned in conversations about Lopetegui’s successor at the London Stadium and defeat against Newcastle will only cause those to intensify.

Where to watch?

The Iron’s clash with Newcastle will be broadcast live on Sky Sports PL at 8pm on Monday, 25 November.

Prediction: Newcastle 3-0 West Ham

Monday could be the end of Lopetegui’s tenure at the club in what could be a heavy defeat for the Irons.

Newcastle have impressed in recent weeks while the Hammers have shown no signs of improvement since the start of the campaign.

Lopetegui’s side could still get something from the game, home advantage may prove to be too valuable for Howe’s side.
