New contract negotiations underway between Soucek and West Ham – report

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has opened talks between his advisors and the club to pen a new deal at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old currently has two years left on his deal in east London with an optional two-year extension included but a brand new deal for four years is expected to be on the cards as per Claret & Hugh

The Hammers will be looking to secure the future of the Czech international with a substantial pay rise after exceeding expectations since joining in 2020 for £19.1million.

Get it done

West Ham need to do everything within their power to keep their key players happy and at the club for as long as possible.

The club are foregoing the best run of form they have since the good old days which can’t be taken for granted.

In previous years it was a lot harder to keep hold of one superstar at a time, but this squad has several very influential players and if they keep hold of all of them, David Moyes might be able to attract more, higher quality players.

Soucek is a stalwart in the Irons midfield, Declan Rice picks up a lot of the plaudits for obvious reasons, but he is a brilliantly reliable partner.

He has everything, his defensive work rate is second to none, he can read the game, is physically and technically very strong and scores his fair share of goals as well.

When he is missing from the team for whatever reason it is embarrassingly noticeable so the club shouldn’t risk losing him on a permanent basis and should get his contract sorted as soon as possible.
