West Ham United: New £30m Jota twist emerges at London Stadium as personal terms agreed for last-gasp transfer
Al Ittihad have now set a £30m price tag on West Ham target Jota after terms were agreed with the player, according to Seb Ecrivain Foot.
The French journalist shared (29 January) on his X account that the Hammers have agreed terms with the Portuguese winger to seal his move before Thursday’s deadline.
However, the East Londoners are yet to agree terms with the mega-rich club with Al Ittihad now wanting around €40million (£30m) should he leave to join West Ham.
Ben Jacobs shared on 29 January that the Saudi club want the Hammers to cover his full wages with is a figure closer to half of the £190,000 per week quoted.
Seb Ecrivain Foot posted: “West Ham agrees with Jota. Not yet with his club which is demanding 40M € + resale bonus. To be continued.”
Risk
With clubs up and down the Premier League table worried about the potential repercussions of FFP breaches, there is little chance that West Ham would target such a player if his wage was so astronomically high.
Especially after the loan signing of Kalvin Phillips, David Moyes will have to hope the real figures of Jota’s wage are much lower than reported if he is to acquire some attacking reinforcements.
However, the East Londoners are desperate for attacking firepower before Thursday’s deadline and Jota is available for transfer after his struggles in Saudi Arabia which presents the Irons with a grand opportunity.
The Ibrahim Osman lead looked to be an exciting one, but with it looking unlikely t to happen anymore, the former Celtic man could prove a sure-fire option to help West Ham push for domestic and European success this season.
His wages are a huge problem though, one which could prove a giant risk given he hasn’t played much football for the best part of six months and there are no guarantees he will come in immediately and make the impact West Ham need.

Even at £25m, Jota may be deemed too much to pursue although talks are continuing between the two parties. Will be interesting to see if the Hammers have any room in the bank to seal Jota’s signature given the risks.
