Nathan Holland & Conor Coventry set for West Ham loan exits

West Ham United struggled to a 2-2 draw in their first pre-season friendly against Dundee on Friday afternoon.

David Moyes went with an experienced side at Dens Park, sprinkling in some youngsters within his first-team squad.

Nathan Holland and Conor Coventry have always been two of the closest to breaking through, and both started the game.

Just as it looked as though they could be involved this season, things start to develop and their futures look in doubt.

Roshane Thomas shared a major update on Friday, claiming that the duo are very likely to leave the London Stadium on loan.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he also added that Bernardo Rosa and Emmanuel Longelo could join them.

“Very likely Holland, Longelo, Rosa and Coventry will go out on loan,” he said.

Squad depth is going to be critical this season for Moyes.

With the Europa League joining our list of commitments alongside the Premier League and domestic cup competitions, we need to be smart.

Should the Irons struggle to add new signings in the final third or in midfield, it is very likely that the likes of Holland and Coventry may be asked to stay.

It wouldn’t result in as much first-team action as they would get on loan away from the club, but they could certainly be used as rotation options when needed.

The main question they will need to answer is whether they want a future at the London Stadium or not, and if staying put and helping out now is the way to do that, they will need to prepare for that outcome.

Moyes and his team will want progress in the market sooner rather than later, so we can expect to see some movement in the coming weeks.
