MPs 'stunned into silence' after Tracey Crouch issues West Ham Premier League claim

MPs were left stunned on Tuesday morning (7 December) after Tracey Crouch suggested West Ham can win the 2021/22 Premier League title.

Ziegler, writing via his personal Twitter profile on Tuesday morning (7 December), claims there was “stunned silence from MPs” in Parliament after the claim from the Conservative minister, who is currently conducting a review of English football following the proposed European Super League earlier this year.

Crouch, a Tottenham supporter, said: “West Ham could win the Premier League”.

Spurs supporters are sure to be happy with ‘one of their own’, Crouch, suggesting that West Ham are firmly in contention to win the Premier League this season.

Given their own issues this season, the last thing Spurs fans want to see is the Irons enjoy a successful campaign of their own.

At the moment, they’re doing just that.

David Moyes has his side fourth in the Premier League, above their London rivals, and into the knockout stage of the Europa League as well as the quarter-final of the EFL Cup.

Spurs, meanwhile, haven’t even qualified from their Europa Conference League group yet.

But as much as Hammers are delighting in the contrasting fortunes between the sides, there still has to be an element of realism.

Despite a brilliant start to the campaign, Manchester City are eight points ahead of them at the top of the league, and Liverpool and Chelsea look to be streaks ahead of the rest of the division as well, despite West Ham beating both over the last month.

Injuries could well prove to be the Irons’ downfall as Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna are set for extended spells on the sidelines.

But, despite their chances of winning the Premier League looking like a long shot, it will still be a hugely successful season for the club if they continue on their current trajectory.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are lining up a January loan deal for this 22-cap centre-back after Tuesday’s hammer Kurt Zouma injury blow.
