Moyes speaks out on chances of ex England star joining West Ham
New West Ham United manager David Moyes has yet to really put together his backroom staff since returning to the club earlier this week.
It didn’t seem to do his team any harm in their 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday, but it’s unlikely that the situation will continue for long.
That’s led to plenty of speculation that former England international Stuart Pearce would be returning to the London Stadium imminently.
‘Psycho’ served as Moyes’ assistant during the Scot’s previous reign in east London, but nothing has been announced about a return for him as of yet.
Moyes himself addressed the issue on Friday.
“We have considered Stuart strongly, but I think this time it’s more likely that [he won’t return], but it’s something I’ll finalise a little bit later on,” he told talkSPORT.
The former long-time Everton boss also provided details of what the Hammers would be looking to do in the January transfer market.
“I don’t even think I’ve been here a week, so I pick up a lot of information from the club and the people around me who tell me what is required.
“I think bringing in another goalkeeper is a priority and that’s something we’ll try and do.”
The Irons suffered earlier on this campaign when first choice ‘keeper Lukasz Fabianski went down injured, with the hapless Roberto roundly failing to replace him with any adequacy.
In other West Ham news, the club’s supporters have been reacting positively to news of a contract extension.
