Mohammed Kudus could face extra game ban at West Ham United

West Ham United could be without Mohammed Kudus for an additional game after his red card incident against Tottenham, according to The Times.

The 24-year-old will serve the last of the usual three-match ban placed on players who are shown a straight red against Everton on Saturday (9 November).

However, the newspaper reported via its website on 3 November that Kudus could be suspended for an extra game and miss the trip to Newcastle on 25 November if he is found guilty of improper conduct.

He is currently awaiting the result of his appeal against an FA charge.

Mohammed Kudus to get extra ban at West Ham?

Edson Alvarez picked up West Ham’s third red card of the season in their 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday (2 November). The Mexican was also sent off in their 5-1 EFL Cup drubbing at Liverpool on 25 September.

This has led to Lopetegui being questioned over the team’s discipline, with Martin Allen insisting that the head coach needs to take responsibility for his players’ behaviour and antics.

While Lopetegui is to blame for a lot of the Hammers’ problems this season, it might be harsh to criticise him for the three red cards.

Kudus’ sending-off was a spur-of-the-moment incident as it was very unlike the Ghana international to lose his head in the fashion that he did against Tottenham.

Lopetegui has since held talks with the attacker and assured that such an incident will not repeat.

The Spanish tactician, meanwhile, will be glad if Kudus’ extra ban is just for one game as it was previously reported that he could be suspended for three games (TBR Football).
