West Ham United could renegotiate the terms of the £85million release clause in Mohammed Kudus’ contract, according to The Athletic.

The online outlet reported on Tuesday (July 2) that the initial clause in Kudus’ contract, applicable to other Premier League clubs, expired on June 30 and will not be active again until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

However, the Irons could potentially wipe out that release clause agreement that kicks in in 2025 should they offer the player an extended deal.

Kudus, who is contracted until 2028 with an option for an additional year, scored eight goals and assisted six times in 32 Premier League appearances last season.

The Hammers paid Ajax £35.6m for the Ghanaian international, who also netted five times in the Europa League, including the goal of the tournament.
