Michail Antonio update: West Ham star leaves hospital in recovery news
Michail Antonio has been discharged from a London hospital as the West Ham striker continues his recovery from a road traffic accident, according to The Times.
The newspaper reported via their website on 31 December that the striker has returned home after undergoing surgery on a broken leg after his unfortunate accident on 7 December.
He is still not expected to play again this season, but the Irons are considering extending his contract beyond its expiry in the summer.
West Ham hope for Michail Antonio’s speedy recovery
It came as a shock when it emerged that Antonio had been hospitalised after his Ferrari got into a crash during Storm Darragh two days before the 2-1 win against Wolves.
The Hammers showed their class afterwards by conducting an auction that saw them raise £29,613, with Jarrod Bowen’s matchday jersey selling for £3,005.
West Ham decided to match the amount, thus raising a total of £60,000 and will now split it between the NHS and Air Ambulances UK, whose services were required on the scene after Antonio’s accident.
The East London outfit are also keen to extend their support to the Jamaica international by handing him a possible contract extension.
Antonio’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, but the Irons are determined to support him in any manner they can.

West Ham gave Angelo Ogbonna a one-year contract extension after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and could do the same for Antonio.
Talks are likely to take place once the player is settled at his home after being discharged from the hospital after a whirlwind month.
Antonio will not know if he will be able to play again for at least 12 months, according to Jim White [talkSPORT], but everyone hopes to see him on the pitch again.
