Michail Antonio stays injury-free at West Ham with new diet
By Daniel Feliciano
West Ham forward Michail Antonio has revealed the secret behind his newfound fitness was a change in diet.
The new Jamaica international striker has found himself in brilliant form under David Moyes since being moved to the centre-forward role.
But after several injury problems plagued his career, in particular his hamstrings, Antonio has been able to have a relatively injury-free season so far which has seen him respond with seven goals in ten appearances so far.

That new fitness has seen him cement his place as the starting striker at the London Stadium and Antonio revealed that a change of diet is behind the lack of injuries these days.
Speaking to Sky Sports, via The Athletic, Antonio said: “I’ve come to realise I’m no longer the young pup that I used to be. I kept believing that I was. There were certain things in life I was doing that I could have been better with.
“I used to eat what I wanted, I wasn’t the best eater. Now I’ve changed my diet and routine of life. And I’ve noticed since I changed my diet I’ve had less niggles and I’ve not felt my hamstrings at all.”

Eating up the glory
The diet includes cutting red meat out of his meals entirely and he is reaping those rewards already, earning a maiden international call-up to the Jamaica national team recently.
Antonio’s brilliant physique and explosive power helps him greatly in the striker role, with his touch, dribbling ability and pace key to helping West Ham keep the ball further up the pitch these days.
He has become the all-round centre-forward that the Hammers have lacked in recent years and with the goals flying in, he looks to really be enjoying his football once again.
The decision to start focusing more on his diet and body seems to be working perfectly for the master of the random goal celebration and West Ham fans are absolutely delighted by his impact and dedication.
He is now one of the first names on the team sheet alongside Declan Rice and his absence whenever he is unavailable is always clear for all to see. West Ham should be doing all they can to keep him fit and firing if they want to have another chance of securing European football this season.
In other West Ham news, this is what Antonio said to Cristian Romero in the win over Tottenham.
