Michail Antonio should be fit and raring to go for West Ham

David Moyes has confirmed Michail Antonio should be fit and raring to go for West Ham when they play against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Scotsman heaped some praise on the 31-year-old before hinting that he has had a good rest and is prepared to play on Sunday [West Ham official website].

The striker had been selected as part of Jamaica’s squad but decided not to go because of logistical reasons, and it seems as if that should only benefit the Irons.

Moyes said: “I think he has been firing on all cylinders, and I hope he’s well-rested and has got some good training in.

“He chose not to go with Jamaica in the end because he felt that some of the logistics weren’t correct, and we’re hoping he can continue with the good form he’s been in since the beginning of the season.”

Good news for the Irons.

To be honest, this was probably the best thing that could have happened for the Hammers, really.

Had Antonio played for Jamaica during the international break, he wouldn’t have got the rest that he perhaps needs and could have put his body at risk.

Antonio has played eight games in all competitions for the Irons this season, so this rest could do him a world of good.

Now, he didn’t score against Brentford before the international break, but let’s hope that he can pick that scoring form back up again and start competing with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Jamie Vardy at the top of the goalscoring charts.

This seems to be a positive update from Moyes, and we would expect Antonio will be raring to go on Sunday, and the Toffees could be in for a tough time dealing with him.

We all know he is a handful, but he could be even more dangerous after a rest.
