Michail Antonio is ‘frustrated’ at West Ham United, could quit in January

West Ham will not consider any offer for Michail Antonio in January unless they find a suitable replacement, as reported by ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on Patreon (12 January) that Antonio is keen to move on after growing frustrated at the club for playing second fiddle to Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers striker has managed seven starts in the Premier League this season, and a further 10 appearances have come from the bench this season, scoring two goals.

Wolves have made an attempt to sign the 32-year-old striker this month but the Hammers are currently blocking any potential move for him [Express and Star, 11 January].

Club hero

It will be indeed sad to see Antonio leave the club, but it appears that the Hammers are reluctant to let him go.

The Jamaica international joined West Ham in 2015 from Nottingham Forest and he is about to make his 500th appearance for the club.

He played in multiple positions for the club throughout his time and has managed 125 goals.

In the past few seasons, he has played as a striker and carried the onerous burden of scoring all by himself when the club failed to sign a striker for three consecutive transfer windows.

He is a favourite among the fans, and West Ham shouldn’t sell him unless they receive a very good offer.

Antonio has a contract at the club until 2024, and the club do have the option to extend it for one more year.

It’s a sign of a good striker to be feeling frustrated which shows his hunger and passion to play regularly. There’s no way the club should sell him.
