Michael Owen predicts result of West Ham vs Manchester City
West Ham host Manchester City in the League Cup round of 16 on Wednesday, and Michael Owen is eagerly looking forward to the game.
The Hammers dumped Manchester United out in the last round, but pipping holders Man City to a berth in the quarter-finals will be an arduous task.
West Ham have been in fine form of recent, though, and Owen reckons it could take penalties to separate both sides after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.
He wrote while predicting in his BetVictor column: “This is the hardest of all the games to predict. Both sides are in great form, and I don’t think we’ll see too many changes to the line-ups for this one.
“West Ham have been strong at home, so I think it’ll be tight. That said, the longer it goes, I wouldn’t be surprised if City nicked it after normal time.
“It could go all the way, so I’m looking forward to a great game.”
Interesting
West Ham have proven that they have enough quality depth in their squad to challenge across all competitions, and David Moyes and his men will fancy their chances against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Having kept three clean sheets in a row and with just two defeats to their name in all games so far in 2021-22, the Hammers are heading into tomorrow’s clash in fine form.
Man City could be making several changes to their line-up too, and that could play into West Ham’s hands.
The game is a tough one to call, but the Hammers are hungry for silverware and will be aware that beating the Premier League defending champions could get them closer to the League Cup trophy.
On their day, West Ham have proven to be a tough nut to crack, and if Moyes gets his tactics right, a win on Wednesday is definitely possible.
In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
