Michael Owen predicts result of West Ham v Everton

Michael Owen says this is a “huge week” for West Ham and David Moyes and expects the Hammers to edge out Everton on Sunday (03 April).

The Hammers suffered a 3-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the previous league game before the international break, and they will be looking to return to winning ways.

Everton are struggling for survival and their form away from home has been horrendous.

With a crucial Europa League clash coming up against Lyon on Thursday, Owen told BetVictor that he expects a 2-0 win for the home side.

“What a huge week this is for West Ham and for David Moyes personally. They’ve got Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday but first up it’s Everton,” said Owen.

“They’ll want to go into the game on Thursday in a good mindset, I can see a win here. Everton’s away form just keeps getting worse. They didn’t start badly against Palace in the FA Cup, but they collapsed and conceded some poor goals.

“The next two are away, here against West Ham and then to Burnley, they need to improve quickly. I fancy West Ham. 2-0.”

Big week

The defeat against Spurs was a killer blow to their top-four hopes. But the Hammers must win their remaining games to secure a top-six position in the league.

They have a crucial Europa League quarter-final clash coming up against Lyon, and a victory here will give them a lot of confidence.

Everton, on the other hand, are heading into this fixture on the back of a demoralising 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Former West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is now a senior player for England

The Toffees find themselves 17th in the league at the moment, and they desperately need points on board.

Everton have picked up only one win away from home all season. Frank Lampard is yet to taste victory away from Goodison Park.

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek both impressed for their countries last month, while Michail Antonio will be raring to go after getting some much-needed rest.

In other West Ham news, Declan Rice lifts the lid on a failure that will “haunt” him forever.
