Michael Owen heaps praise on West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen after heroics against Man City

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has heaped praise on West Ham star forward Jarrod Bowen after his inspirational performance against Manchester City.

The 25-year-old was in sparkling form for the Hammers in the match on Sunday and scored a brace for the home team in the 2-2 draw.

Owen, while talking on Premier League production, heaped praise on Bowen, who according to him has been ‘so good’ this season for the London-based outfit.

“Jarrod Bowen has been so good this season,” he said. “He’s really taken a big step forward. Now he’s being talked about in terms of his national side, and we’ve seen the reason why today.”

Star performer

Bowen has been inspirational for West Ham in the ongoing season and he capped another outstanding performance on Sunday as well where he dented Man City’s charge towards another Premier League title.

The Leominster-born is the leading scorer for the Hammers in the league campaign this season with 12 goals to his name.

That’s not it as he is the joint-third highest assist provider in the competition with 10 assists, just behind Liverpool’s duo of Mohamed Salah (13) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (12).

Those performances made it pretty evident why some of the big clubs in England, including Liverpool, are interested in buying the winger in the summer transfer window.

Bowen joined West Ham during the winter transfer window in 2020 from Hull City in a deal worth €21.30 million.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 103 matches in all competitions where he has managed to score 27 times and also provided 23 assists.

In other West Ham news, the boss could do with offloading this ageing defender to make room for new arrivals.
