Michael Dawson warns West Ham United fans despite ‘Disaster’ v Arsenal

Michael Dawson has delivered a warning to West Ham fans ahead of their clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday 17 February, admitting that he is a “huge fan” of David Moyes.

The Scot has been under serious pressure at London Stadium, with his future at the club currently on the line following a string of poor results, being winless in seven matches in all competitions.

Hammers fans were quick to voice their opinions after a 6-0 thrashing by Arsenal on Sunday 11 February, with many calling for Moyes to be sacked. However, Dawson believes it could be a massive risk.

Speaking via Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday on Saturday (17 February, 2:14pm), he said: “West Ham fans have got to realise that they’re eighth in the Premier League with 36 points.

“Last week was a disaster. David Moyes knows that, but I’m a huge fan of him. The West Ham fans left; they were disgruntled.

“But just be careful what you wish for. David Moyes has done a lot at that football club, winning a European Cup last year and experiencing one of the best days they’ve had for a long, long time, but last week was well below par.

David Moyes is running out of time

With their last victory coming against Arsenal in December, West Ham fans have quickly lost hope of finishing in the European spots, unless something drastic changes at the club.

Moyes’ style of play has been criticised, especially with his side conceding 10 goals in their last three matches to Bournemouth, Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Forest fixture marks a potential turning point for the club, with the Reds also struggling to pick up points near the bottom of the table, going six matches without a win.

With a win at The City Ground, Moyes and West Ham could be back in contention to finish in the European spots in the Premier League and will also act as a huge boost ahead of their upcoming Europa League campaign.

It seems as though Moyes is likely to be given until the end of the season by the board. However, a poor result against Forest could speed the process along, with European football very much on the table at this point.
