Michael Brown: Moyes doing ‘brilliant’ job despite West Ham United sack pressure
Former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown has insisted West Ham must stick with David Moyes despite the constant pressure and rumours surrounding his job at the London Stadium.
Brown shared his view that Moyes is doing a brilliant job at West Ham and commented how the boss’ experience and know-how should overrule any frustrations over the style of play.
He claimed the ideals held by fans over the type of football they want to play can be a fairytale and hinted that they should be more grateful for what they already have with Moyes.

Writing on the BBC Sport live blog [14 December, 19:48], Brown insisted: “We all want to play the perfect style and in the perfect way, but look how many games Moyes has managed.
“He is a workaholic and they have a really experienced manager at the helm who understands everything about the game.
“If the board decide they want a different style of football, then fine. But I think he is doing a brilliant job. They started really well this season and are still in ninth.
“I understand fans want to see the most amazing football, but sometimes that is a fairytale.”
Concerns are dismissed all too often
While Thomas has clearly got a point, the Hammers remain ninth in the league and finished top of their Europa League group, with Moyes’ experience certainly playing its part in guiding them to those impressive heights, the deeper concerns are often brushed aside.
Inconsistent displays and a heavy defeat to Fulham saw these worries rise again. Concerns over the style of play are pinned down to the grass always being greener – but there are several examples to show that this can often be the case.

Take Bournemouth for example. They had a solid and steady option in Gary O’Neil and came in for criticism after changing to Andoni Iraola, but have found their way and are currently on a five-game unbeaten run including results against high-flying Aston Villa, Newcastle and Manchester United.
If that was the case for Bournemouth, who’s to say it wouldn’t be for West Ham? The fans’ frustrations are legitimate, regardless of what Moyes has done for the club. Respect will be maintained, but annoyances are clear.
