Michael Ball: Glen Kamara joining West Ham would be a great move
Michael Ball has claimed Glen Kamara joining West Ham from Rangers for £10million this summer would be a great move.
According to the Daily Mail, the Scottish Premiership champions would now require at least £10million to let the Finland international midfielder leave Ibrox despite snapping him up for just £50,000 two years ago.
Give Me Sport recently reported that West Ham have made enquiries about the 25-year-old having been impressed with his performances at the European Championships.
Former Rangers star Ball reckons this is a development that is not likely to go away anytime soon, telling This Is Futbol: “This is a rumour that hasn’t seemed to go away. David Moyes is not daft in the transfer market.
“He does a lot of homework on players. Kamara is an international and £10million for an international is not a lot of money.
“It would be a great move for Glen but a sorry miss for Rangers.”
Huge player
West Ham need to make a quality midfield addition this summer, and Kamara is their man.
The former Arsenal academy player has bossed the Premiership, playing a major role in helping Steven Gerrard’s side land their first top-flight title in a decade.
Rangers and the player are finding it hard to reach an agreement over a new deal, and we reckon that has presented the Hammers with the best chance to make a move.
£10million is nothing for a player with such a talent, and Moyes would have been impressed with what he saw him do at the Euros.
The Irons boss was part of UEFA’s technical observer team at the tournament and was surely running the rules over prospective targets.
We cannot rely on the trio of Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and Mark Noble for the entirely of a busy 2021-22, and Kamara has proven that he can play alongside the big boys.
He was splendid for Finland during the qualifiers, playing a key role as they qualified for a first major tournament.
We need such a player in the Europa League and in the bid to finish in the top-six again next Premier League season, and this is the type of deal West Ham should be looking to seal by all means necessary.
