Micah Richards shares West Ham United and David Moyes verdict after win v Bournemouth

Micah Richards has praised David Moyes, expressing his wishes to see him lead West Ham to European glory, as featured in Daily Mail’s The Verdict [Page 5, 24 April].

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa player believes relegation was never a realistic prospect for the Hammers, as they moved up to 13th place in the Premier League table after Sunday’s significant 0-4 victory over Bournemouth.

Liverpool are the next opponent for the Irons who will go into the game on Wednesday evening [26 April], brimming with confidence.

West Ham

The resounding win on the south coast can be the catalyst for a strong end to the campaign for West Ham, they have certainly set the bar high over the last week, a sentiment that was shared by Richards.

“I’ve always had huge respect for David Moyes and after West Ham’s 4-0 hammering of Bournemouth, there is little chance of them being relegated,” he said.

“I never believed that was a possibility anyway.

“He’s an excellent manager and I’d love to see him lift the Europa Conference League”

Looking up

All of a sudden, the gloom has lifted on the Hammers.

It just shows what a string of results can do, they are now unbeaten in their last five outings with seven points from the last three games in the Premier League.

Sitting in 13th place in the table on 34 points, just two more wins should be enough to secure their top-flight status for another season. As well as having the Europa Conference League semi-final to look forward to, things are looking up for Moyes’ men.

It is a fantastic boost for the manager himself, who has been under pressure given their recent struggles. The Scotsman deserves credit for their current form and the continued exploits in Europe. Of course, things could be better overall in the league but West Ham need to be careful what they wish for.

A massive decision awaits at the end of the season in terms of what direction they are going in. A new boss brings no guarantees, at a time when Moyes credentials are rising.
