Medical now underway for James Ward-Prowse at West Ham United, he wants one more game for Southampton

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse is undergoing his medical at West Ham as his transfer draws closer to completion, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster reported online in their transfer blog (11 August, 10:28am) that the 28-year-old is currently having his health checks ahead of completing his £30million switch from the South Coast.

Southampton rejected a bid worth the same fee last month but have now accepted the offer as the conditions and payment terms were more favourable for the Saints.

Personal terms have already been agreed as the transfer now looks all but sealed. Ward-Prowse was keen to play for his boyhood club one final time against Norwich on Saturday 12 August but risk of injury meant this was not possible.

Imminent

After a slow summer in terms of incomings for the Hammers, it now seems as if David Moyes will have a couple of new additions to perhaps include during their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday (12 August) – albeit Ward-Prowse will have to beat the Premier League’s registration deadline to feature.

The club have already announced the signing of midfielder Edson Alvarez, who was brought in from Ajax, and he will possibly have a new midfield partner, though the clock is ticking to get it done in time for Ward-Prowse to feature on Saturday.

Ward-Prowse has spent his whole career on the South Coast and might take some time adapting to life at the London Stadium, although his vast experience playing in the Premier League should help to speed that process along.

For £30million it represents a fantastic signing and brilliant value for money and following Declan Rice’s departure to Arsenal earlier in the window, it now seems as if Moyes’ new-look midfield is beginning to take shape.
