Maxwel Cornet suffers fresh injury setback ahead of Silkeborg clash

West Ham United will be without three players for Thursday’s Europa Conference League clash as Maxwel Cornet suffers another injury setback.

The Ivorian was back on grass ahead of the Irons Premier League clash against Bournemouth but it’s been reported by Football London’s Jonty Colman (26 October) that the 26-year-old is still out.

The game also comes too soon for Lucas Paqueta and Craig Dawson, but summer signing Nayef Aguerd could be in line to make his debut after suffering an injury during the Hammers’ preseason friendly against Rangers.

Bad luck

Cornet’s West Ham career has really struggled to get going after his summer arrival from Burnley, with the Ivorian blighted by injury. Let’s hope this is the last of his injury struggles and that he can go on to be a real threat to David Moyes’ men in the coming months.

All West Ham fans will be relieved that Lucas Paqueta’s injury is not as bad as first feared, with the Brazilian now back in full training with the first team. He has really started to come to life in Claret and Blue and could be vital in any success the club have this season.

Aguerd’s imminent return will excite many. The Morrocan looked impressive in preseason after his big-money move to the London Stadium and when he gets up to speed, the Irons will have a number of impressive defensive options to choose from.

The game against Silkeborg does look like the ideal scenario for Aguerd to return, with the Hammers already through to the knockout stages.
