Max Allegri in mega-money £115,00-a-week West Ham contract talks

Max Allegri will demand no less than £6million-a-year to become the new manager of West Ham United, Calciomercato reports.

According to the Italian news outlet’s website [6 December], Allegri requires roughly £800,000 more than his salary at Juventus to move to East London and could even leverage emerging interest from Saudi Arabia in negotiations with a reported £16.5m offer on the table.

The Hammers have opened talks with Allegri, who wants £115,000-a-week, to replace Lopetegui; the multiple Serie A winner is high on the list of candidates at the London Stadium [Alex Crook].

Lopetegui could be removed from his role as early as Monday evening [9 November] – the clash against Wolves is considered the final roll of the die for his tenure.

Max Allegri would be a dream appointment for West Ham United

The Italian is undoubtedly the most decorated candidate under consideration to succeed Lopetegui at West Ham – therefore his acquisition will prove costly for David Sullivan.

Allegri has accumulated six Serie A titles across spells with AC Milan and Juventus while also collecting five Copa Italia crowns and reaching the Champions League final twice during his time in Turin.

However, the 57-year-old is unwilling to embark on the rebuild project in East London during the season and would rather wait until the end of the campaign to build anew ahead of his prospective first stint in English football.

Therein lies one of many obstacles awaiting Sullivan should he deem Allegri the desired target to lead West Ham; the owner would need to fork out a “hefty payoff” to dismiss Lopetegui [BBC Sport] for starters before negotiating a substantial salary for Allegri – demands which would undoubtedly rise to convince him to arrive in East London during the season.

Regardless, other names under consideration, such as former Chelsea boss Graham Potter [talkSPORT], are not cut of the same cloth and considering how poorly the Hammers have managed the post-David Moyes era, the board cannot afford to misfire with the next managerial appointment.
