Martin Tyler and Alan Smith single out Jesse Lingard for praise v Everton

Martin Tyler singled out Jesse Lingard for praise in the clash between West Ham and Everton on Sunday.

It was a disappointing game for West Ham but the England international looked to get his side on the front foot, particularly after Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the visitors the lead.

Lingard has nine goals since joining West Ham and he will be key to helping the Irons qualify for Europe, with just three games remaining after the Everton match.

Tyler picked out Lingard for praise, saying on Sky Sports’ coverage, “He’s been a revelation, absolutely devouring the opportunity to play regularly, he’s got himself back in the England set-up.

“It’s been a great loan move for David Moyes.”

And co-commentator Alan Smith added, “He’s so often been the catalyst for victories.”

Please stay Jesse

The word revelation perfectly sums up Lingard’s time at the London Stadium.

Nobody expected the attacking midfielder to have such a big impact and he has proved a lot of his doubters wrong, luckily for us.

And with Manchester United going strong in his absence, we hope that means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy to let him go in the summer.

If that happens West Ham will surely be the first-choice destination for Lingard, especially if we will be competing in Europe.

We have given him the freedom to roam in attack and he seems to be enjoying his time with us, on and off the pitch.

He has bought into what we are trying to do and seems to be great friends with the likes of Declan Rice and Mark Noble – he called the captain a “ledge” during his birthday celebrations on Saturday.

We would love him to stay and urge the board to make Man United an offer they cannot refuse.
