Martin Braithwaite set to move to the Premier League with West Ham keen

Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite is set to leave the Nou Camp “in the next few days” and West Ham United are keen to buy him, according to Sport.

The Catalans want to offload the Denmark forward for around £12.78million after bringing in Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay, and he is willing to leave.

Norwich City and Brighton have also joined West Ham in the race for the 30-year-old, and they are all ready to meet his demands.

A huge gamble

Braithwaite struggled at Middlesbrough the last time he played in England, scoring eight times in 36 Championship appearances.

He has not particularly impressed since leaving, with just 13 La Liga goals to his name in the last three seasons, and it would be a gamble if West Ham were to sign him.

It appears that the Irons board are not keen on spending a lot of money this summer, and we could be getting a decent striker in the Dane for the quoted fee.

Braithwaite impressed in the Champions League with Barca last term, scoring thrice and assisting once in six appearances.

With European football available at the London Stadium next season, we could do with his experience upfront.

Manager David Moyes loves an industrious striker, and he would be getting one in the Dane.

He was a handful for defences at the just-concluded European Championships, with his speed and pressing proving too much for the opposition.

Braithwaite would not come across as an exciting signing, but he gets the work done and could be a fine addition to the Hammers attack if his finishing can be worked on.

In other West Ham news, talks underway as Hammers want to sign 27-year-old with six trophies.
