Martin Allen: PAI should buy West Ham rather than just talk about it
Martin Allen believes that PAI Capital should complete the West Ham takeover behind closed doors rather than talk about it.
The Hammers are in the midst of an attempted takeover by the consortium which has gained the support of Tony Cottee, the two Ferdinand brothers, and a few others.
Recently, they claimed that a second bid had been made for the club which was vehemently denied by the hierarchy at the London Stadium. [Claret & Hugh]

Discussing the takeover on The West Ham Way Podcast, the former Hammers midfielder said, “The club is in fantastic hands right now. If the PAI people buy it then, of course, we will look forward to the next chapter of West Ham United Football Club.
“I prefer it if they don’t just talk about buying something and actually buy it. It’s the same with Newcastle and the stockbroker [Amanda Staveley].
“[PAI] should come up with the money, deliver it behind closed doors and do a deal. The fact that it’s all hanging around and lingering, I don’t know (if it will happen).”
Patience
From Hammers fans, there must a growing desire to see a resolution reached one way or the other, but given the amount at stake and the two parties being at odds, it’s not easy to complete so quickly.
David Gold and David Sullivan have made it clear that they’re unwilling to sell the club and maybe PAI are using the media to put pressure on them to change their mind.

They’re extremely unpopular among the London Stadium faithful and given the likes of Cottee and the Ferdinands getting behind them, maybe it could be good PR to brief fans about what’s going on in terms of the takeover.
However, given that we’re seeing two different stories in terms of a second bid being table says that one party is clearly lying, and at this point, we’re unsure whom to believe.
The best we can do is to let this all pan out in the coming weeks and see where it finally goes.
