Martin Allen makes unbelievable Tim Steidten claim after West Ham United loss v Tottenham
Martin Allen says it is “unbelievable” that Tim Steidten is in the West Ham United tunnel alongside the players before games.
The Hammers technical director was pictured in the tunnel before the 4-1 away loss against Tottenham on Saturday (19 October), leaving former West Ham man Allen quite bemused.
Taking to his personal X account (20 October), Allen shared his thoughts on Steidten’s involvement with the first team on matchdays.
“Timmy in the tunnel on Matchday next to our Captain !!! lol, unbelievable,” he wrote, along with a laughing emoji.
West Ham United need to improve Premier League performances
In recent weeks with West Ham, it’s felt like the club have taken one step forward and three back. The Hammers seemed to be in a good place before the international break after their 4-1 win over the Tractor Boys.
However, that good form was short-lived as upon their return from international duty, things seemed to go back to square one.
Some players within Julen Lopetegui’s squad have performed to a decent standard this term, such as Jarrod Bowen, but the vast majority have been well below-par.
Hammers fans may have wanted to distance themselves from David Moyes after finishing ninth in the Premier League last season but, looking at their performances now compared to when the Scotsman was in charge, things look worse at the moment than what they did with Moyes at the helm.
There’s still plenty of time for the Spaniard to turn things around and get his side’s quest for European football back on track, but if they keep playing below-par each week, things will only go from bad to worse for West Ham – something they’ll of course be desperate to avoid.
In other West Ham news, Chris Sutton has shared his verdict on whether the Hammers will be relegated this season.
