Martin Allen makes Lopetegui sack prediction before West Ham clash v Bournemouth

Martin Allen has backed Julen Lopetegui to turn things around at West Ham.

Since his arrival in the summer, the Spaniard has failed to have the desired impact on his side leaving the Hammers too close to the wrong end of the table.

As a result, there have been plenty of questions over the ability of the 58-year-old with his job at the London Stadium under threat.

As the East London outfit prepare to play Bournemouth on Monday [16 December], if they lose this game it may well mark the end of his time of his time with the club.

However, ex-Irons midfielder Allen thinks his former side can turn things around as posted on X: “Another weekend unbeaten for J-Lo, I reckon. Surely he’s going to stay in charge now?”

Can Julen Lopetegui save his job at West Ham?

The trip to Bournemouth on Monday will be a big one as Lopetegui’s future at West Ham continues to hang by a thread.

Although the Hammers came out on top against Wolves in the clash that was branded ‘El Sackico’, there is still plenty of doubt being cast over the future of the Spaniard after an unconvincing performance.

The board at the London Stadium remains unconvinced and succession plans have been spoken about over recent weeks but surely if they get a win against the Cherries, this will buy the boss some more time.

Allen backs the Hammers to do so and then the boss will get the time from the board to turn it around. However, it does feel as though they are just waiting for him to lose so he can be sacked now.

If this is the case and David Sullivan now has his plan for the rest of the season, it is a decision he needs to make now but if he isn’t willing to make the call and his team wins on Monday, he owes Lopetegui the time to prove he can change his side’s fortunes.
