Marseille value West Ham target Duje Caleta-Car at £17m
Ligue 1 club Marseille reportedly want £17million in order to part ways with Croatia defender and West Ham target Duje Caleta-Car.
According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old is one of the options the Hammers are looking at this January transfer window.
It is understood that they’re considering a loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Worth it
For £17million, West Ham will be getting their hands on a quality international centre-back.
While they’re plotting a January loan move, Marseille could very well make that an obligation in the summer to sanction the transfer.
If that is the case, the Hammers must take it as he would prove to be a bargain for that price.
Given Angelo Ogbonna’s age and season-long injury, Caleta-Car is the perfect player to come in.
Not only will he solve the club’s defensive crisis this season, he will be Kurt Zouma’s long-term partner at the London Stadium.
David Moyes will be delighted to have two centre-backs who are quality and still to hit their respective primes.
It will be interesting to see if the Hammers can successfully convince Marseille to do a loan deal.
