Marouane Fellaini showers praises on Tomas Soucek
Marouane Fellaini has been impressed by Czech Republic international midfielder Tomas Soucek after watching some of his games for West Ham United.
The Hammers ace is a dominant force at both ends of the pitch, and Fellaini is pleased to see how influential he has been under David Moyes.
Soucek, 26, joined the London Stadium outfit from Slavia Prague in January 2020 and has established himself as one of the best players in his position in the top-flight.
Fellaini told The Athletic: “Soucek reminds me of my younger self. He’s a good box-to-box midfielder, he can score goals, he’s an important player for the team.
“Moyes is good at finding players like Soucek. I watched their performances against Manchester United and for me, they dominated Manchester United in both games.
“Moyes just needs to continue what he’s doing now. After a few tough years, he’s doing amazing and I hope he achieves great things at West Ham.”
Incredible
Soucek stands at 6ft 4in just like Fellaini, and it is safe to say Moyes was initially attracted to the West Ham ace due to the similar features he shares with the Belgian.
The Hammers boss turned the midfielder into a force to reckon with during their time together at Everton, and he took him to Manchester United when he succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford dugout.
A second reunion was not possible when Moyes moved to London, but he definitely got his Fellaini in Soucek.
The midfielder has scored 14 goals and assisted twice in 61 Premier League games for the Irons, playing a major role in helping them finish in the top-six last term.
While Soucek has struggled in the final third so far in 2021-22, his aerial dominance has continued to come in handy.
West Ham are looking to secure Champions League football this term, and having a player like the midfielder helps boost their chances.
