Marko Arnautovic reveals potential West Ham exit to join Manchester United and Jose Mourinho
Marko Arnautovic has revealed that he nearly left West Ham in order to join Manchester United when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
The Austrian always appeared to have a love-hate relationship with the Hammers and has now gone on record to admit he nearly left them.
The move would’ve gone through had Paul Pogba not joined the club for a then British record transfer fee as Arnautovic was also on their radar.

The former West Ham striker told Gazzetta Dello Sport, “Jose (Mourinho) wanted me when I was at West Ham. He asked me how much I cost. But then United didn’t have enough money to sign me, because they had already bought Pogba.”
Should’ve left
Arnautovic anyway overstayed his welcome at the London Stadium and should have departed sooner than he eventually did.
Towards the end, he had burned all bridges with the club and had it not been for David Moyes, there’s a good chance he would’ve been off the books earlier.
Even Karren Brady did not mince her words while talking about Arnautovic which clearly shows just how disliked he is by the club hierarchy.
Manchester United would surely have regretted signing him, but they’re known for making blunder after blunder in the transfer market.
West Ham would’ve probably made a healthy profit had they cashed in on him and hopefully the make the most of such situations in the future.
The three-time Champions League winners may have a rich history but they’re clearly not the saviest of clubs in the transfer window.
