Mark Noble’s primary role will be to sort transfer business of West Ham – Dean Jones

Journalist Dean Jones believes that one of the primary jobs of Mark Noble at West Ham will be to sign players who are in sync with the values of the club.

The 35-year-old has recently re-joined the Hammers as a Sporting Director, just months after retiring from football.

Jones, who has previously reported for Eurosport and Bleacher Report, while speaking to Givemesport, believes that one of Noble’s primary roles will be to find players who know the value of representing the club.

“Nobody knows this club’s philosophy and journey better than Mark Noble and that’s something that the club wants to maintain,” he said. “They’ve obviously had a couple of very successful years and they don’t want to drop off.

“I think that’s what they’re fearful of. As they’re now having to rebuild the squad and bring in new players, there’s just that concern that the players that come in don’t totally understand how they got to the heights of making it into the Europa League.

“Part of Mark Noble’s job is to make sure that they’re left in no doubt about what it means to play for West Ham. Then beyond that, he can start to build out his role as a sporting director.”

Crucial to take the club forward

Transfer activity plays a huge role in how teams perform as a few bad or good calls can turn the season of any team upside down.

West Ham had a relatively successful time in the recently concluded transfer window where they signed eight first-team players.

It was a unique thing for the Hammers fans to see the club amongst the big spenders in the transfer window.

With their arrival, a lot was expected from the side that finished seventh in the previous campaign and also played in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

However, none of the players has managed to live up to the expectations so far which has put pressure on the manager David Moyes as the side has only four points from the first seven matches.

Therefore, if Noble manages to get the club’s transfer business sorted, it will help the side massively going forward and the fans will be hoping that their former captain will live up to the hype.
