Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur clash

West Ham United host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and will be looking to make a statement of intent by winning the London derby.

The Hammers picked up all three points at Everton last weekend, while Spurs also left Newcastle United with a win despite their earlier struggles this term.

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson is expecting an exciting clash when both sides meet at the London Stadium, but he is finding it hard to pick a winner, predicting a 1-1 draw.

West Ham

“West Ham got a really good win at Everton last week in a game I had a feeling they would nick,” he wrote in his column on the website.

“Tottenham’s revival continued at Newcastle, where their quality came through after a difficult start and Harry Kane got off the mark in the Premier League.

“This one is hard to call. I don’t think there will be much between them on Sunday, or come the end of the season.

Tough

Spurs are still yet to fully find their feet under Nuno Espirito Santo, but they have managed to win back-to-back league games heading into the West Ham trip.

With five victories to their name, the Hammers have a challenging task on their hands if they want to emerge victorious in this clash.

With Michail Antonio, Declan Rice and most of the key players available, David Moyes will fancy his side’s chances of winning.

While the Hammers midfield and attack should deliver against Tottenham, their defence have to find a way to keep Kane and Heung-min Son quiet.

West Ham

The duo were in fine form against Newcastle and remain one of the most lethal finishers in the top-flight on their day.

Angelo Ogbonna could struggle with the pace of the South Korean and Steven Bergwijn, and Kurt Zouma and the full-backs will need to constantly help him out.

An exciting game is definitely on the cards, and it will come down to which team utilises most chances.

In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
