Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham defeat against Southampton
West Ham vs Southampton is going to be a closer encounter, but Mark Lawrenson sees it going the way of the Saints.
The Hammers have started this season strongly and are in second place after two wins and a draw from their three games.
Southampton, conversely, are winless thus far, drawing two and losing one, sitting in an unremarkable 13th place on the table.

Lawrenson still favours them to win this game and has predicted a 2-1 victory for them.
He told BBC, “Southampton are another team without a victory so far but I think their performances have been better than their results in their first three games.
“West Ham, meanwhile, have won two out of three and would have a 100% record if they hadn’t let their lead slip twice at home against Crystal Palace before the international break.
“This is going to be close, but I just have a sneaky feeling Saints are going to snatch the points here, and end their wait for a win.”
Ridiculous
Given the start West Ham made to the season and the signings they made before the window shut, they certainly go into this one in a bullish mood.
Everything suggests that they will continue their fine run in front of goal and give the Southampton defence a run for their money.

It’s ridiculous that Lawrenson just tips the scales in their favour without any solid proof as to why he’s coming up with that conclusion.
The Hammers don’t have any major injury worries either so unless it’s a snatch and grab, we don’t see Saints coming away with maximum points here.
Maybe, this is one of those predictions he’s preferred to go against the grain with, but Irons fans shouldn’t be too worried as the team is in great shape ahead of this one.
