Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham clash v Brighton

Mark Lawrenson has backed West Ham United to leave Brighton with a point from their Premier League clash this evening.

The Hammers are desperate for three points after their defeat against Everton made the Champions League spots nearly impossible to catch.

Lawrenson has predicted that the Irons will leave the AMEX Stadium with a 1-1 draw, which isn’t enough for their dreams.

West Ham

Writing in his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson has insisted that this could be much sticker than some may think this evening.

“West Ham’s home defeat by Everton last weekend all but finished off their hopes of making the top four, even though it is still mathematically possible,” he wrote.

“I see more frustration for David Moyes’ side here too.

“Brighton will be without suspended duo Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupay after their red cards against Wolves. That should help the Hammers, but I still think Brighton will get something out of the game.”

West Ham

Not enough.

This would be nowhere near enough for the Irons.

David Moyes has been playing down the importance of qualifying for European football next season, but after being in this position, anything but that would be a complete failure.

With Everton, Liverpool and Spurs all wanting spots for the Europa or Champions League, any negative results would hand them the perfect opportunity.

We have to stamp our authority in these final three games, and that has to start with a convincing performance and victory against Brighton this evening.

Take no prisoners.
