Mark Lawrenson predicts outcome of Liverpool v West Ham United
West Ham will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday (19 October) and Mark Lawrenson has predicted a 2-0 win for the home side.
The Reds are heading into this game on the back of a 1-0 win against Manchester City, with Mohamed Salah scoring the winner. Lawrenson feels they will be back to “square one” if they can’t win against the Hammers.
David Moyes’s side were left frustrated last week as they managed a 1-1 draw against Southampton and a strong performance is needed against the Reds.

“As well as Liverpool played against Man City it’ll count for nothing if they can’t win this one. They’d be back at square one. David Moyes will make it tough for them, with set-pieces tricky to defend, but you’d really start to worry if the home side don’t win here. Liverpool 2-0 West Ham,” said Lawrenson to Paddy Power.
Tough place
West Ham have not won at Anfield since 2015, and they have lost in their previous five visits to this iconic venue.
Will that change this week? This Hammers side are capable of beating any team on their day but they need to improve their away record.
They have been poor away from home this season. However, this is a different game, and Moyes must get his tactics spot on.

We have seen that teams who play full-throttle football struggle against Liverpool as they play with intensity.
Probably the best way to approach the game is to frustrate them. Liverpool will enjoy loads of possession but the Hammers must stay calm at the back.
Given that the Reds play a high-line defence, there will be opportunities for West Ham to exploit, and that is where they must kill the game.
It is easier said than done. But that is how Moyes could look to get something from this fixture.
