Mark Kennedy raves about ‘outstanding’ West Ham United ahead of clash v Lincoln

Lincoln City manager Mark Kennedy has raved about the West Ham team ahead of the clash against his side on Wednesday (27 September).

Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Tuesday (26 September), the Imps boss, who used to play for the Hammers’ arch-rivals Millwall, said the East Londoners are an “outstanding team” and have already had some impressive results so far this season.

The Irishman added that David Moyes has been “hugely successful” across his career in management and has built an Irons side that ticks the boxes.

“There are two big leagues in between us,” said Kennedy. “They are an outstanding team, a very good Premier League side.

“And David, who I dread to think how many games he’s had as a manager, hundreds and hundreds right up near the top end of managers in games – hugely successful.

“They just tick so many boxes – talent, technical ability, physical presence. They just tick all the boxes and their having an outstanding season this year, already with some really impressive results, so we’re going to have to be at our absolute best.”

An opportunity

This is a game that provides West Ham with an excellent opportunity to progress into the next round of the Carabao Cup after qualifying for the third round on the back of last season’s Europa Conference League success.

But it isn’t a game the Hammers can afford to be taking lightly against Lincoln because Premier League sides often do come unstuck in these matches.

It promises to be a hostile atmosphere when the Irons take to the field at Sincil Bank, where they will have to show plenty of grit to secure their place in the next round.

Moyes is expected to make a number of changes due to the hectic schedule, but there should still be enough in the side to have too much for their League One opponents.

It will also provide some of the fringe players with a chance to prove why they should be involved more in the first team over the next few weeks.

In other West Ham news, a celebrity fan has raged at what Moyes did in the defeat against Liverpool.
