Mark Goldbridge embarassed for Man United’s Rashford after West Ham development

Mark Goldbridge berated “embarrassing” Manchester United star Marcus Rashford after learning Jarrod Bowen has more goal contributions for West Ham United over the past few seasons.

The 27-year-old took his goal contributions in the Premier League to six for the campaign thus far after assisting Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the 2-0 win against Newcastle United on Monday [25 November].

Goldbridge shared a statistic about Bowen and Rashford, as relayed by West Ham Central on X [27 November], that he thought was “incredible”.

He said: “That is embarrassing. That is incredible. From [the] 2021 season to now, Marcus Rashford’s had 142 appearances, [and] Jarrod Bowen’s had 158.

“Marcus Rashford scored 41 goals, Jarrod Bowen scored 45 goals. Marcus Rashford got 19 assists, Jarrod Bowen’s got 29 assists.

“Now I can only go off the tweets and the screenshots but if that is anyway shape or form true, that is embarrassing mate.”

Jarrod Bowen performing a level above at West Ham United

The Hammers captain has been one of the only standout performers in East London this season and has managed to maintain his impressive performance levels despite the chaotic stewardship of Julen Lopetegui.

Comparisons with the likes of Rashford are below his station; at the same time, it may well be viewed as “embarrassing” that Bowen is putting up higher numbers than a regular starter at Manchester United, he has been performing as one of the best forwards in the Premier League for some time now.

Although his West Ham deal runs until 2030, the supporters will be anxious about how the forward will view his future at the London Stadium if the side continues on this chaotic path under Lopetegui.

TalkSPORT reported on 6 November that the Spaniard has already lost the dressing room in East London – while no names have since come to light, it is fair to speculate that the leader of said dressing room could be considered one of the players who has had enough of his methods.

Therefore, the Irons must prove they can deliver regular European football to appease their captain – he will undoubtedly not be short of suitors should word come to light that he is unhappy in claret and blue.

David Sullivan revealed that he would not consider sanctioning the sale of his captain “for any price”, but should the direction of the player and club not align, the stance will be put to the test should the Premier League elite come knocking at the door.
