Marcus Rashford a doubt for Man United v West Ham

Manchester United could be without star man Marcus Rashford for the clash with West Ham on Sunday evening.

The England international, 23, has scored 18 goals and seven assists for the Red Devils this season. He was injured in the 2-0 Manchester Derby victory at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the news ahead of the Europa League clash with AC Milan. He said: “He is still getting treatment but he didn’t join in during training today.

“Even though I’m normally a very optimistic guy, I think he’s out for tomorrow night and probably a doubt for the weekend.”

It’s a big blow for United, who have a host of injuries at the moment. Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Donny Van de Beek and Juan Mata are all sidelined, whilst David de Gea is unavailable.

West Ham

Chance of an upset?

Sunday is a very big opportunity for us to put pressure on those in the hunt for the top four. Spurs are facing Arsenal in a North London Derby, whilst Chelsea have a tough trip to Elland Road.

Injury ravaged Leicester host relegation battlers Sheffield United whilst Everton face Burnley. We have the toughest clash of the weekend no doubt, but should go with confidence.

City aside, we’ve won more points than anyone in the top-flight in 2021, suffering just two defeats since the turn of the year. United won in the reverse fixture, but will be without two of their goalscorers, Rashford and Pogba.

Since the last league clash we’ve been defeated at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. United had a strong team to chose from, whilst on the night we have a big of an injury crisis. We also travelled without Antonio, who undoubtedly makes a huge difference to the way we play.

We go there this time full of confidence, having won on Monday but not being satisfied by the performance. There is every reason to believe we can get a win this time around. It would keep our hunt for Europe alive and put pressure on United in second place.
