Manuel Lanzini missed Atalanta game due to minor knock

Manuel Lanzini missed the West Ham vs Atalanta friendly on Saturday due to a minor knock, ExWHUemployee believes.

The Irons raced to an impressive 2-0 victory in London to end their impressive pre-season campaign on a high.

Lanzini’s absence was a notable one, but did not derail West Ham from picking up the victory with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek starting in midfield.

When asked about Lanzini’s absence, the reliable West Ham insider replied, via his personal Twitter account, “I think he has a minor knock and wasn’t risked.”

Hope he’s back in time

Lanzini, an attacker by trade, has been deployed in a deeper midfield position by David Moyes, and he’s done fairly well in his new role, giving the manager an additional midfielder to count on.

This summer, we have been linked with midfielders, but nothing has materialised so far, and unless things dramatically change in the next couple of weeks, we’re not getting anyone new in that area of the pitch.

West Ham

Lanzini, who had been previously linked with the exit door [Football Insider], seems to have won over Moyes, and now due to him being a utility player at the London, he’s expected to stay at the club beyond this summer and we’re delighted to have him.

He’s got two years left on his deal and the club have an option to extend it until 2025, so we’re under no pressure to cash in on him either.

Hopefully, he plays more than the 17 Premier League games (five of which were starts) he did last season, as he’s certainly a pivotal part of first team.
