Manuel Lanzini could leave West Ham United in January, River Plate ready offer

Manuel Lanzini could end up leaving West Ham United in this January transfer window with River Plate on his tail, according to Fichajes.net.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer and there appears to be no talks or intention to extend his stay with the Irons beyond then.

As a result, River Plate in his native Argentina are looking to put together a bid that would see him make the pilgrimage back to his homeland in January rather than waiting until the summer when he will be free.

West Ham

For a deal to be struck, Fichajes.net claim that West Ham would have to lower their asking price considerably or even let him leave for nothing six months before his contract expires.

Lanzini is said to not be against a move to the South American side in January, especially with his deal at West Ham looking unlikely to go further than this summer.

Any fee

David Moyes needs every penny he can get in the transfer budget this month to try and make the additions necessary for the Hammers to pull themselves out of relegation trouble.

So if Lanzini has a club after him and they are willing to spend some cash on him now rather than wait until the summer then they should be doing everything they can to come to an agreement.

West Ham

He has not been a regular feature in the starting lineup this season with Lucas Paqueta’s arrival rendering him surplus to requirements for the most part.

He will want to be playing football week-in, week-out at 29 years of age and West Ham can no longer offer him that so he almost has to move for the good of his own career.

Whether he envisaged going back to South America at this stage is something only he knows but if they are willing and no one else is, then he would be mad not to go.
