Manuel Lanzini admits to ‘big scare’ in crash en route to West Ham training

West Ham United attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzin has reassured fans that he is ok after he crashed on the way to training yesterday.

The Scottish Sun reported that the Argentine had managed to roll his £70,000 Mercedes on the A12 but he was able to walk away from the wreckage without any injuries.

The 29-year-old has since taken to Instagram to thank supporters for their well wishes and confirm that he is ok despite the worrying accident.

“Hello people, I wanted to thank everyone for the messages of support and affection on this day, they did me a lot of good since it was a very big scare, but thank God, as far as the accident was, everything went well. Thank you very much,” the Irons star wrote.

Not ideal preparation

Considering how well Lanzin has played for West Ham this season, David Moyes won’t be best pleased that he has suffered this fate with a Premier League game rapidly approaching.

The Hammers take on Everton at the London Stadium on Sunday hoping to keep their push for the European places heading in the right direction.

But this incident might make the boss think twice about putting the Argentine straight in from the start.

It isn’t the physical fitness of Lanzini that might worry him but rather the psychological effect the crash may have on him.

If he isn’t in the right frame of mind to perform at his best, then Moyes simply must let him sit out this match and get him right for the Europa League quarter-final against Lyon.

There are bigger games for the Irons to play than the relegation-threatened Everton and Moyes has plenty of options in his position to be able to rest him for this game without a worry.

In other West Ham news, a super-agent believes this Hammers star has been “snookered” by recent developments at another Premier League club.
