Manchester United transfer news as contact made with West Ham United target Serhou Guirassy

Manchester United have made contact with West Ham target and Stuttgart signing Serhou Guirassy, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.

The West Ham Way reported on 9 December that this news comes as a major blow to the Hammers’ pursuit of signing the 27-year-old.

Guirassy, a Guinea international has a release clause of £17.5million at the German club.

Worth considering

The Hammers’ pursuit of Guirassy is imperative given their longstanding struggle to find a reliable striker.

Michail Antonio who is their primary striker, has been inconsistent and his recent injury increases the urgency to secure a potent forward.

Guirassy, with an impressive tally of 16 league goals for Stuttgart this term, emerges as a promising solution to West Ham’s striking woes, offering the potential to fill the void left by Antonio’s absence and bring a consistent goal-scoring threat.

However, the pursuit of Guirassy is fraught with challenges as Manchester United’s interest escalates the competition for his signature, presenting a formidable obstacle for the Hammers.

The financial power and allure of a club like Manchester United could sway the player’s decision and the reported release clause of £17.5million makes Guirassy an attractive target for several clubs, intensifying the competition.

While West Ham may face an uphill battle, the club’s recent success in convincing players like Mohammed Kudus to join, despite competition from bigger clubs, offers a glimmer of hope and the Red Devils also spent big money on Rasmus Hojlund in the summer so the Guinea international may not want to play second fiddle.

In other West Ham news, Aston Villa want to sign an international Hammers player and things aren’t going well for him currently.
