Manchester United make £40m plus two player bid contact for West Ham Declan Rice transfer

Manchester United have made contact with West Ham with a £40million plus two players question in their bid to sign Declan Rice this summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The two players are said to be Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga, as Erik ten Hag’s side aims to increase their chances of signing the highly sought-after midfielder.

Despite their advances, United are thought to be lagging behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the race to land Rice.

The Mail report from Sami Mokbel also stated that the Gunners are preparing a third bid for the influential England international.

“To that end, it can also be revealed that Manchester United have enquired for Rice in recent days with a view to offering £40million plus Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga,” he said.

“However, United are viewed as outsiders in the race for Rice.”

West Ham

Uninspiring

Maguire and Elanga plus £40m? Maybe add another £40m to that and we can talk.

Whilst West Ham should be selfish when it comes to a potential swap deal, this isn’t one that appears attractive from David Moyes’ perspective. More than that, it is uninspiring.

Maguire just shouldn’t be considered whilst Elanga is an unproven quantity, meaning that United will need to think again if they are serious about landing the Hammers’ prized asset.

Arsenal and Manchester City are in a much stronger position to land the player, for different reasons, so it will be very interesting to see what package will get the green light for official permission to talk to the 24-year-old.

With the club holding out for at least £100m, it is going to take a serious offer on those terms or a game-changer of a player-swap proposal to make it happen.

Rice’s aspirations though, are most likely to determine where he will be playing his football next season.
